The language known today as Spanish is originated from a dialect of spokenLatin, that evolved in the north-central part of the Iberian Peninsula after the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the fifth century.
Tapas, tapas, tapas… let me take you to one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The IRON CHEF – Jose Garces. A well-known name today; once he was just a pioneer who was practicing his passion for food and experimenting with flavors. Years later – he made Philadelphia a place of culinary destination.
Everything started here in the heart of Old City – at AMADA, named after his grandmother. It’s been out there for more than a decade and still is one the top restaurants for majority of Philadelphians. Besides the beautiful atmosphere you indulge as soon as you walk through the door, let’s look at some highlights of the place.
If you love sangria – that’s the place to have the best one. They offer seasonal choices including red, white or even rose! Happy hour runs from Monday through Friday from 5-7 pm and it’s only $5 for the glass! Sounds like a deal?
Around the area for lunch time? Amada serving “catalan express lunch” daily (only $15.50!!!), using the best ingredients, with the 2-course meal: soup for the first and salad/sandwich for the main course. I’ve had lunch here many times and was always amazed with quality of the food and hospitality of the staff.

The pulpo ala gallega - Spanish octopus
Gambas al ajillo - garlic shrimp

You might want to pair or not to pair your dinner with some great wines and craft cocktails – YES! They cover it all! While enjoying Spanish dishes – try the red varietal which is produced in the Priorat County in the providence of Taragona to the south-west of Catalonia (Spain) – Priorat! In the mood for white – Albarino is your answer. A variety of white wine grape grown in Galicia (northwest Spain).
Let’s not forget about Brunch – here it’s a MUST! $23 a person, you get to enjoy bread basket (mini little pastries made in the house), coffee or tea, and get ready … choose 3 items from their brunch selection.
At the end of the day, you’ll certainly get that “I wannna go back feeling”! Amada is good for a private party, happy hour, quick lunch, amazing dinner or delicious brunch. A great way to start the day or celebrate a night!

Rachel has also completed extensive studies toward becoming a General Appraiser through The Appraisal Institute.
